Combining Small Windows

They are the eye to the home’s soul.

They are pictures that frame your views and make the connection between the outdoors and the indoors.

There are ways to adjust your windows to brighten the space and set the tone…

The simplest way is to combine small windows using the beauty of symmetry.

Notice how the small rectangular windows are arranged. They balance the the bottom window and french doors while also adding more light.

Also, installing smaller versions above larger ones not only adds a new design element, but also brings in more light.

There are times when one large picture window may be overkill.  So create your own with smaller ones placed side-by-side.  With these smaller accents, you’ll be able to provide the right balance for your room, frame the interior and the exterior of your home, while also adding more light.

Another cool aspect of having a combination of smaller windows is that you can install non-stationary windows. Hello ventilation!

You can also combine them in a corner to give an edgy look and feel to your home’s exterior. Or, if you’re just after eye candy, alternate between large and small custom-shaped and skylights to create a visual feast and a play on light.

While technically not windows, glass block can be arranged to create small “windows” that can make a space brighter and appear larger while still maintaining privacy.

Don’t forget that while using combination techniques, the use of your room is the most important. Function over form is an important philosophy when remodeling a home you’ll be living in for a while or even flipping for an investment.

Hi There – Combining different small window in one creative piece can work. When it comes to combining different small window types, I suggest laying out the window pattern, as well as the direction each window opens to ensure they work well together.
